It isn’t easy being an employee. But it can be incredibly rewarding.

As an employee who cares, and I mean really cares, not only do you have to contend with the usual day-to-day challenges of life inside an organisation – leaderless teams, toxic cultures, unsettling change, bullies, micromanagement, and the list goes on – you also have to deal with the fact that you’re very likely swimming against the current, and seen as a rebel or a do-gooder or a lone wolf.
This presents you with unique challenges, and could very well drum up thoughts like...
“Am I really making a difference? Will I ever in this role, or am I wasting my potential?”
“Is the effort and stress actually worth it?”
“Could a different job or becoming an entrepreneur make me happier?”
My name is Heidi Kikoler, and I can personally relate to the experience of being an employee who cares. I can because I’ve walked in those shoes before at two different highly respected corporate foundations, a sustainability innovation consultancy, a charitable foundation, and an advertising agency. I've been a social intrapreneur inside Virgin, and trained others across the Virgin Group on how to be a force for good. I've had two 'aha' moments which motivated two different career pivots, sending me back to school twice for further studies – once to Oxford to study climate change and another to study professional coaching. I've also lost my job twice because of changes outside of my control, and also bounced back from giving up on my first business in my early 20s.
What I experienced first-hand, has led me to passionately never want to see anyone who has a burning desire within them to make the world a better place, to ever waste their potential or the opportunities they already have in front of them.
And after training to be a professional leadership coach in 2013, it reinforced my already growing understanding that all too often the only person standing in the way of our success, impact, and happiness is ourselves.
When you're in the thick of things, you can't always see things as clearly as you can with hindsight, and that is exactly why I'm here to help you.
